E.L. Doctorow on the writing process.

On the Writers Almanac today, I heard it was the 81st birthday of one of my favorite authors, E.L. Doctorow. Here's a quote from Doctorow on his writing process:

"Here's how it goes: I'm up at the stroke of 10 or 10:30. I have breakfast and read the papers, and then it's lunchtime. Then maybe a little nap after lunch and out to the gym, and before I know it, it's time to have a drink."

Beautiful.

I blogged about you yesterday after finishing "The Tilting House." I loved that you wrote it in first person!! Great story and great characters!! I just read that this was your first book, nice! Will there be a sequel? I'm a fellow writer who is in the midst of rewrites on my MG and I'm a newbie in "Blogdom." I look forward to reading more of your work!
